CC-IAM has been involved in several projects in the domains of climate change impact assessment, adaptation and mitigation strategies and development of downscaled climate scenarios.
The group brings together scientists from several disciplines who conduct trans-disciplinary research on both a national and international level.

The group’s objectives fall within five main domains:

  • Impacts assessment: to conduct pioneering research on climate change impacts at local, national, and international levels on water resources, coastal zones, forests, biodiversity, agriculture, public health, tourism, energy demand, and transports;
  • Adaptation: to contribute towards national and global research on adaptation to climate change;
  • Networking: to establish national and international networks in our research areas;
  • Dissemination: to disseminate information on climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation to stakeholders at all levels.

Introduction to linear mixed effects models and GLMM in R

From Monday 11th of February 2013 to Friday 15th of February 2013
Where:Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon

From February 11th to the 15th of 2013 S.I.M. will host and co-organize the mixed modeling course in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon given by the team from Highland Statistics

COURSE CONTENT:

• Day 1: Dealing with heterogeneity in linear regression models (GLS).
• Days 2 & 3: Linear mixed effects models for nested data (random intercept model, random intercept and slope model, lme versus lmer, p-values, REML).
• Day 4: Adding more complicated correlation structures (spatial or temporal) to linear regression and mixed effects models.
• Day 5: GLMM with Poisson and binomial distributions. Dealing with overdispersion.

It will cover the chapters 4 to8 of Mixed effects models and extensions in ecology with R. (2009). Zuur, AF, Ieno, EN, Walker, N, Saveliev, AA, and Smith, GM. Springer.

PRE-REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
